Biography

1997 was a strange year. Old bands and old friends were breaking up and new bands were rising from the ashes. Sitting at home, Matthew Dewar struck upon an idea. As a sort of a joke, he called Noel Jago and inquired as to whether he’d be free to play a show. The catch? Every song had to be from the 80s and they had to do it acoustically. Minimal money, limited run. Good for a laugh and a few free pints.

Their debut proved to be anything but spectacular (ask them about it sometime) as it seemed the joke was over everyone’s head. Disappointed, the boys figured they’d finish the month and pack it in. Then something strange happened. People began to come out and bring their friends. Heavy drinking ensued and before long, Matt and Noel were packing the joint out.  There was simply no choice: the masses demanded that they stay together and entertain them forever.

And so the conception was complete. Not exactly immaculate but good enough for rock and roll. Many years, three CDs, and countless shows later, the B.A. Baracus Band remains one of the most exciting bands to stand upon a stage. Covering the ‘80s using only a guitar, djembe, solid harmonies and kazoos, B.A. has garnered a lot of attention and amassed quite a fan base.

As they would say: "We're getting drunk and we're taking you with us". Do yourself a favour and join them on the ride.
